BENIN CITY: The Oba of Benin, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, has enjoined Nigerian youths to avoid actions that could put the nation in a state of unrest.

This was contained in a statement on Monday, signed by Osaigbovo Iguobaro, Chief Press Secretary to the Oba.

Osaigbovo said that Oba Ewuare II gave the advice in Benin City, while addressing leaders of the Benin Christian Community, whose 2026 Universal Week of Prayers ended on Sunday

According to him, the traditional ruler specifically urged youths in Edo, to exercise restraint, apply wisdom, and preserve their heritage for future generations.

“To all our youths across Edo State, we use this opportunity to plead with you: do not use violence to destroy Nigeria and cause confusion in this Country.

“Allow this government in Edo State to work; support and keep praying for leaders in this Country,” he said.

Oba Ewuare II read from the Bible book of Psalm 23 and prayed to Almighty God and his Royal ancestors, to strengthen Nigerian leaders and imbue them with divine wisdom, to discharge their responsibilities.

He recounted his experience since ascending the throne almost 10 years ago, as well as the challenges.

The Oba consequently, enjoined Christians of various denominations, to unite and support the growth of one another as exemplified by Christ.
