Property owners of Oke-Oreoma Community in Edo State have commended governor Monday Okpebholo for restoring back to them, their properties, which were demolished by former governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration.

The coordinator of the group, Hon. Collins Ojo stated this while speaking with journalists in Benin City Edo State Capital.

According to Ogume “the properties that were demolished by the former administration under the leadership of Governor Obaseki, 2022. So we are here to appreciate the Governor of Edo State because the committee that he set up to restore our property back to us, they’ve been doing their job. And we have to let the public know that we are very, very happy for remembering us and the whole process has been very peaceful”.

Ojo explained that they have relief as Edo State Governor, Senator Okpebholo has been a father to all, adding that he does not discriminate. He advised the public to disregard any rumour of petition by one Maya over the landed property against the state government.

He said: “some people filed from 49 and all that, stopping the state government from going through the process. And when we asked, who was this person? They said it was one company owned by a mayor or Alhajii. We want to let the public know that we want to beg the Governor to please just disregard those reports”.

Ojo appealed to the state government not to listen to the people and those petitions to withdraw or sideline the people he has started the good fight for.

He alleged that from the records available, Alhaji has sold all his land in the community, hence, he has no land in anywhere around the said community.

“He does not have a farmland. It was a farmland and he has also sold all the farmland. So we don’t know why he is now suing the state government for going through this process”. Ojo added

Ojo also appealed to the Nigerian Union of Journalists to continue to support them in making sure that all their properties are restored back to them.

“And on the side of the community, that because we bought from the community, we are also saying that they should also carry the community along and make sure that all parties are happy. We thank our Honorable Festus Alehe and also Mr. Ade and all other persons that have been there for us. God bless you all and it shall be well with you”. He said.

“And the Governor of Edo State, now we know who you are. You are only here to rescue Edo people. We will not relent in appreciating you”. He concluded.
