Former governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP) in Edo State, Olumide Akpata, has defected to African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He defected alongside his supporters.
Akpata was received by leaders of ADC like former governor of the state Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, ex-Senate Chief Whip Roland Owie, National Chief Whip of ADC Festus Igbinoba, National Legal Adviser of the party Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor and a former governor of Anambra State Peter Obi.
Akpata said he joined ADC to support the move to take over leadership of the country.
He said there would be time for actions.
Odigie-Oyegun praised the defectors for joining the commitment to a new Nigeria.
He said the commitment remained total.
Obi said rigging would not be allowed in the 2027 general election.
He said: “We are committed to a new Nigeria. Our commitment is total. It must happen here. Nigeria is number three in World Bank debt.”
