Former Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Presidential Aspirant in 2023 general elections and the only female candidate in the 2024 Edo Governorship election, Patience Ndidi Ofure Key has Congratulated Professor Eunice Eboserehimen Omonzejie on her Historic appointment as Vice-Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma
Patience Ndidi Ofure Key who is an Alumnus of AAU, Ekpoma and based in the United States of America, made this known in a press statement she personally signed and made available to newsmen.
“I am deeply proud of this milestone for our university, for Edo, and for Nigeria. Professor Omonzejie’s appointment is a breakthrough for AAU, for Edo, and for Nigeria in general. Her decades of scholarship and service—especially in French and Francophone African literature and in advancing gender and cultural studies—embody the excellence our institutions need now”, said Patience Ndidi Ofure Key.
According to her, “this milestone tells every young woman on our campuses that leadership is not a matter of permission, but a matter of preparation and purpose.
“This appointment is far more than a personal achievement. it is a signal of what is possible when excellence, integrity, and vision meet institutional demands.
“As a long-serving academic and respected scholar, Professor Omonzejie has taught in AAU’s Department of Modern Languages for more than 30 years, producing impactful research in African and Francophone literary, gender, and cultural studies. She has also been a visible champion for women in higher education as former President of the AAU Chapter of the National Association of Women Academics (NAWACS)—where she helped open doors for women academics and students to thrive.
“As an AAU alumni, I am proud of this historic choice of Professor Omonzejie and her stewardship, I look forward to a leadership tenure that will elevate academic vigor and research output across disciplines”, Key added.
She expressed hope the new VC will deepen global partnerships, particularly in language, culture, and international exchange, and equally advance gender equity and student success, ensuring AAU remains a magnet for talent. Her appointment she said will also strengthen AAU’s contribution to regional development, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
Ndidi Key noted that through the Nigerians in Diaspora Chamber of Commerce (NiDCC) and their networks, will stand ready to support the Vice Chancellor in her vision and collaborate with the institution on Diaspora-led mentorship for AAU students and exchange programs in languages, culture, business, and technology.
Other areas of collaboration Ndidi Key said, will be in Women-in-leadership and research fellowships, building on the new VC’s NAWACS legacy, while internships and industry linkages that bridge classroom learning with real-world impact wouldn’t be neglected.
“This appointment is a signal of institutional courage and a call to collective action—alumni, faculty, students, government, and the diaspora—working together to elevate AAU as a hub of innovation, enterprise, and leadership for Nigeria and Africa.”
She prayed that her leadership be marked by wisdom, courage, and tangible progress that will uplift the entire AAU community, and assured her of their collective hopes and full support.
