The Obidient Movement has accused Julius Abure, former National Chairman of the Labour Party, of allegedly deploying armed thugs to attack Mama Pee, a respected social activist and prominent figure within the movement.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the group condemned the alleged attack, describing it as “cowardly, barbaric, and an insult to womanhood.” They claimed the incident proves Abure has abandoned democratic values and resorted to violence.
“This barbaric act is a desecration of our democracy and proof that Abure has no claim to integrity. To unleash armed thugs on Mama Pee is cowardly and exposes the emptiness of his political vision,” the statement read.
The movement urged the Inspector General of Police and other relevant security agencies to immediately launch a probe into the matter, stressing that those behind the attack must face justice.
According to the group, no level of intimidation or harassment will silence Mama Pee or the millions she represents. Instead, they insisted, the incident has only strengthened their resolve to resist political tyranny in Nigeria.
“Abure has proven himself unfit to lead, unfit to inspire, and unfit to represent the values of a new Nigeria. His thuggery is a stain on our democracy and a slap on the faces of all Nigerians who still believe in fairness, justice, and peace,” the statement added.
The Obidient Movement concluded by reaffirming solidarity with Mama Pee, declaring that violence will not derail their commitment to building a new Nigeria.
