Benin City, Nigeria – The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised strong concerns over Governor Monday Okpebholo’s recently announced $250 million investment partnership with Euro-Africa CCI, questioning the credibility, transparency, and long-term benefit of the deal for the people of Edo State.

In a statement released by its newly appointed State Publicity Secretary, Daniel Osa-Ogbegie, the PDP described the investment announcement as “a source of embarrassment” to Edo people, citing what it called unfolding questionable information about Euro-Africa CCI.

PDP Demands Transparency in Edo’s Fiscal Management

Osa-Ogbegie emphasized that while the party respects constituted authority and democratic institutions, its loyalty remains first to the people of Edo State.

“Where government policies uplift the people, we shall lend our support. But where governance strays into oppression, waste, or deception, we will stand firmly with the people,” he said.

He further declared that the Okpebholo administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would be held accountable for their claims, particularly the $250m Euro-Africa CCI investment said to be secured from Glasgow.

PDP Vows to Expose Mismanagement and Abandoned Projects

The opposition party also criticized the alleged abandonment of key projects initiated under the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki. According to Osa-Ogbegie, Edo PDP will now shine a light on fiscal management practices that appear to sideline transparency and accountability.

“From today, every false claim, every half-truth, every attempt to malign opposition voices will be met with facts, with records, and with a resolute defence of the Edo people. We must put an end to gutter politics and embrace responsible, issues-based debate,” he stated.

“Okpebholo Must Defend Policies With Substance” – PDP

The PDP also condemned Governor Okpebholo’s alleged frequent verbal attacks on opposition leaders, describing such conduct as beneath the dignity of his office.

“If the government truly believes in its policies, let it defend them with facts and substance, not with insults,” Osa-Ogbegie added.

The Bigger Picture in Edo Politics

The controversy surrounding the $250 million Euro-Africa CCI investment deal is fast becoming one of the most hotly debated issues in Edo politics. With PDP vowing to intensify scrutiny on the Okpebholo administration, the coming months are likely to see increased political battles over transparency, governance, and the future of state-led investments.
