Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to delivering people-oriented infrastructure and boosting human capital development across the state, with particular focus on the Esan Central Senatorial District.
Governor Okpebholo made this known during a project inspection tour on Saturday, where he visited several ongoing flagship projects in Esan Central Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the Governor inspected major ongoing works, including the new Edo State College of Nursing and Health Sciences Technology located at Udomi, and the Uromi–Onewa–Udomi–Ibhiolulu–Afuda–Idumoza–Eko–Owaya–Ewora Road—a key interconnecting route aimed at enhancing transportation, trade, and economic activity across the region.
Ensuring Quality and Timely Delivery
Governor Okpebholo, accompanied by top aides and government officials, was taken around the sites by project engineers, who briefed him on the progress achieved so far and upcoming phases. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and the adherence to timelines by Mutual Commitment Co. Ltd and Setraco Nigeria Limited, the firms handling the projects.
“We are determined to deliver quality projects that will directly impact the lives of our people. I am impressed with what I have seen here today,” Governor Okpebholo stated.
The Governor emphasized that the projects align with his broader development agenda, which prioritizes healthcare, education, and modern infrastructure. He reassured residents of Esan Central that his administration would continue close monitoring of all ongoing projects to guarantee timely completion and long-term durability.
Advancing Education and Healthcare
Governor Okpebholo’s inspection comes months after he signed into law the bill establishing the Edo State College of Nursing, Health Sciences and Technology in May 2025 — a significant step toward strengthening medical education and healthcare delivery in Edo.
The new college, located strategically in Udomi, is expected to serve as a center of excellence for nursing and health sciences education, helping to bridge the gap in healthcare manpower in the state and beyond.
Renewed Focus on Roads and Urban Renewal
Beyond Esan Central, the Okpebholo administration has also been active in improving roads and urban infrastructure in other parts of the state. The Governor recently initiated repairs on sections of Sapele Road, and ongoing palliative works on Agbor Road to ease movement and reduce the impact of bad roads during the rainy season.
Additionally, construction work at the new government complex in Ramat Park, Ikpoba Okha, is nearing completion — signaling continued progress in the state’s infrastructure development drive.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paul Ohonbamu, announced that the government will commence road rehabilitation within the Government Reservation Area (GRA) immediately after the rainy season, further highlighting the administration’s resolve to enhance urban livability.
A Vision for Inclusive Growth
Governor Okpebholo’s latest inspection reinforces his administration’s vision for a modern, inclusive, and well-connected Edo State, where improved infrastructure, functional education, and access to healthcare form the backbone of sustainable growth.
Residents and stakeholders in Esan Central and beyond have expressed optimism that the projects, once completed, will transform local economies, attract investment, and improve quality of life for citizens across Edo State.
