There was reported unrest around Ogheghe, Upper Siluko Road, in Egor Local Government Area of Benin City, after a dispute between two residents reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation.
According to eyewitness accounts, the disagreement began after an alleged misunderstanding involving a commercial motorcycle transaction. Sources claimed that the argument quickly intensified, leading to a physical altercation in which one individual was fatally injured.
Local youths and traders in the area reportedly fled for safety as security concerns rose. Shops in parts of Upper Siluko and Ogheghe were said to have closed early to avoid being caught in the chaos.
At the time of filing this report, security operatives had been deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further violence. Residents are urging authorities to carry out a thorough investigation to determine the actual cause of the conflict and bring those responsible to justice.
Community leaders have also appealed for peace, calling on residents to avoid any form of retaliation and to allow law enforcement agencies handle the situation appropriately.
