Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has called on the Muslim community in the state to unite behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. The governor made this appeal during a special interactive session with Islamic leaders and faithful in Benin City.

Speaking at the gathering, Okpebholo said President Tinubu’s administration has laid the foundation for significant national reforms, stressing that continued support from Nigerians—especially religious and community leaders—is essential to sustaining the progress made so far.

According to him, Tinubu has demonstrated commitment to rebuilding the economy, strengthening national security, and improving social welfare, adding that Edo Muslims have always played a vital role in the state’s political direction.

“President Tinubu needs our collective support as he continues the work of repositioning Nigeria. I urge the Muslim community in Edo State to stand firmly with him as we move toward 2027,” Okpebholo said.

He also commended Islamic scholars and community heads for promoting peace, unity, and cooperation within the state. The governor noted that his administration will continue to partner with religious bodies to advance development initiatives and support social stability.

Okpebholo highlighted several projects his government has embarked upon, assuring the Muslim community that Edo State is committed to inclusive governance and equal representation for all religious groups.

Responding on behalf of the gathering, leaders of the Muslim community expressed appreciation for the governor’s outreach and pledged to work with his administration toward maintaining harmony and progress in the state. They encouraged the governor to prioritize youth empowerment, security, and economic opportunities for all residents, regardless of religious background.

The meeting was attended by prominent Islamic clerics, community representatives, government officials, and supporters from across the state.

As political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, Okpebholo’s call signals growing mobilization within Edo State’s religious and grassroots communities in support of President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
