The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of popular TikToker Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, following a viral video that showed him engaging in reckless driving during a live stream, which resulted in a serious road crash.
According to an official statement issued on December 16, 2025, and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the incident occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The police disclosed that Peller was seen driving in a dangerous manner while broadcasting live on social media, an action that allegedly endangered his life and the lives of other road users.
Police: Act Amounts to Attempted Suicide
The Command stated that Peller’s actions constituted a deliberate attempt to commit suicide, alongside conduct capable of causing harm to innocent members of the public.
Following the incident, the TikToker was arrested and taken into custody, where he is currently being detained for further investigation.
Case Transferred to SCID
The police confirmed that the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough probe.
“The outcome of the investigation will be made public, and the suspect will be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with the law,” the statement read.
