Popular social commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM) has sparked fresh controversy online after openly criticizing what he described as hypocrisy, blind loyalty, and selective morality among Nigerians who, according to him, are quick to defend wrongdoing simply because of personal hatred or tribal sentiment.
Speaking during a recent online rant, VDM expressed deep frustration at individuals who publicly claimed to “stand with Harrison,” despite previously positioning themselves as advocates against the same kind of wrongdoing they are now defending.
“Because of the hate they have for me, they came online to say they stand with Harrison. They were ready to stand for bad against the fight they had been fighting before,” VDM said.
VDM did not mince words as he linked this behavior to a larger societal problem—what he described as ignorance and emotional decision-making that allows politicians and powerful figures to exploit the public.
“It pisses me off when you are dumb; this is why the politicians use us anyhow,” he added.
The activist further emphasized that personal relationships or friendships should never justify defending what is clearly wrong. According to him, moral consistency must always come before loyalty.
“I don’t care about the friendship we share. Bad is bad.”
A Broader Social Commentary
VDM’s comments have since triggered widespread reactions across social media, with supporters praising his blunt honesty, while critics accuse him of being too aggressive in his delivery. Nonetheless, the message has reignited conversations around selective activism, public accountability, and the dangers of defending misconduct for emotional or political reasons.
For many observers, the statement serves as a reminder of how easily public discourse can be manipulated when personal bias replaces critical thinking—an issue that continues to shape Nigeria’s social and political landscape.
As debates continue online, one thing remains clear: VDM is unwilling to soften his stance, even if it costs him friendships or public approval.
