The Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom has appealed for calm and maturity amid the ongoing tension between the Benin Palace and the Edo State Government, urging all parties involved to act with wisdom and restraint.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Crown Prince expressed confidence in the leadership of his father, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, describing him as a man of great discipline and integrity.
“I use this medium to plead. Please handle the current situation on the ground with sagacity. Our father is the most fastidious, painstaking, and meticulous individual I know, so I have faith in you,” the Crown Prince said.
His message comes at a time when the ancient kingdom has been thrown into intense public discourse following the controversies surrounding the Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) project and alleged attempts to undermine the authority of the Oba of Benin.
The Crown Prince’s calm and reassuring tone has been widely praised by Benin citizens and cultural enthusiasts, many of whom have taken to social media to commend his maturity and loyalty to the royal stool.
Observers believe his intervention could help douse rising tensions and refocus public attention on the unity and dignity of the Benin Kingdom, a cultural heritage revered across Africa and the diaspora.
The Benin Palace has yet to issue an official statement on the latest developments, but insiders suggest that consultations are ongoing to ensure the matter is handled in line with the kingdom’s long-standing traditions of diplomacy and respect.
