BENIN CITY: The Edo State Ministry of Power has inspected two operational solar mini-grids as part of efforts to strengthen sustainable and decentralised energy delivery across the state.

The inspection team, led by the Commissioner for Power, Hon. Paul Ehigie Usenbo, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Engr (Dr) Uyiekpen O. Stephen, assessed facilities at Iguemokhua and Evbuwa communities.

During the exercise, the team evaluated operational performance, technical infrastructure and service delivery, while engaging project managers on system efficiency, distribution capacity, metering frameworks and long-term sustainability strategies.

The Chief Executive Officer of Etin Power Limited, Prof Yinka Omorogbe, conducted the officials round the facilities and highlighted the company’s role in expanding electricity access, stimulating local enterprise and promoting clean energy adoption in rural communities.

The ministry said the inspection also provided an opportunity to assess the socio-economic impact of the mini-grids on residents and small businesses, reinforcing government’s commitment to renewable energy development.
