BENIN CITY — The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to citizens, declaring that it will not be distracted by what it described as “unfounded criticisms” from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, made this known in a statement issued on Thursday in Benin City.

According to him, the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration remains focused on fulfilling its campaign promises and implementing its roadmap for sustainable development across the state.

Government Condemns PDP’s ‘Inciting’ Remarks

Ohonbamu cautioned the opposition against making inciting or misleading comments aimed at discrediting the state government’s ongoing developmental initiatives.

“The Edo State Government strongly condemns attempts by the PDP to undermine ongoing developmental efforts through inciting statements,” the Commissioner said.

He added that while the administration respects citizens’ right to free expression, it will not tolerate politically motivated efforts to distort facts or derail progress.

Okpebholo’s Administration Focused on Results

Reaffirming the government’s focus, Ohonbamu emphasized that Governor Okpebholo’s administration is methodically pursuing policies and projects that will deliver long-term benefits to Edo people.

“The government remains resolute in implementing its roadmap for progress and will not be stampeded by unfounded criticisms,” he stated.

He called on residents to remain patient and supportive, assuring them that tangible results will soon be evident across critical sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, and social welfare.

Call for Public Support

The Information Commissioner urged the public to disregard what he described as “armchair criticisms” from the opposition, reminding Edo citizens of the PDP’s record during its years in power.

“With a little patience and continued support, Edo people will soon see the full impact of the Governor’s vision and developmental agenda,” Ohonbamu concluded
