Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paul Ohonbamu has said that there will be improved economic opportunities, job creation, and infrastructure development as a result of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s investment drive abroad.
The Commissioner who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Benin assured that there will be a lot of economic benefits to the state following the Edo State Global Investment Summit 2025 convened by the Governor in Scotland, under the theme, “Catalytic Partnership: Global Funding and Local Impact.”
According to him, Okpebholo’s investment drive in Scotland is expected to bring numerous benefits to the people of Edo State.
He said, “Some of the potential advantages include attracting investors which can lead to the creation of new job opportunities, reducing unemployment rates and improving the overall standard of living for Edo residents.
“The Foreign investments can stimulate the state’s revenue, and improve infrastructure development.”
Ohonbamu also disclosed that critical infrastructure, such as roads, power, and transportation, can support business operations and attract more investors, adding that the governor’s strategy emphasises long-term partnerships and direct capital investment, which can help diversify the state’s economy and reduce dependence on traditional debt financing models.
“The Governor is very passionate in developing the state’s agricultural sector, creating opportunities for farmers and agro-processors as well as leveraging Edo’s natural resources to attract investment into the state.
“The Edo State Government has been working to create a conducive business environment, with several initiatives to curb insecurity and equipping the security agencies in the state to fight crime,” he added.
While assuring investors of a safe environment, Ohonbamu assured that adequate measures are in place to safeguard the lives and property of residents in the state.
It would be recalled that during the dialogue with Edo diasporans, Okpebholo presented his administration’s vision centred on innovation, transparency and practical governance.
Okpebholo also reiterated his administration’s commitment to partnering with indigenes of the state living abroad to achieve more meaningful growth
