BENIN CITY — The elders and people of Okuoromi community in Oredo Local Government Area have expressed deep appreciation to the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, CFR, for restoring peace, unity, and traditional order in the community through his recent royal pronouncement reaffirming the Odionwere as the rightful administrative head.

During a royal audience held at the Oba’s Palace on Thursday, October 2, 2025, the revered monarch clarified that Pa Oghagbon Edosomwan remains the recognized Odionwere of Okuoromi and directed that all administrative matters in the community be conducted through him on behalf of the palace.

“A Divine Restoration of Order”

Speaking after an enlarged community meeting at his residence, Pa Oghagbon Edosomwan expressed profound gratitude to the Oba for his recognition and trust, pledging unwavering loyalty to the Benin throne.

“The royal pronouncement is a divine intervention that has brought lasting peace to our community,” he said. “We thank His Royal Majesty for reaffirming our traditional structure and ending the confusion that previously divided us.”

The decision, according to him, has restored the people’s faith in the Benin traditional institution as the ultimate custodian of justice and harmony.

Community Leaders Praise the Monarch’s Wisdom

The Okaighele of Okuoromi, Hon. Oduwa Igbinosun, also lauded the Oba for his fatherly wisdom, noting that the royal clarification has brought confidence and stability back to the community.

“Our people are now united, and peace has returned,” he said. “We call on security agencies and the general public to respect the Oba’s directive and conduct all administrative dealings through the recognized Odionwere.”

Similarly, the Women’s Leader, Madam Janet Igbinovia, speaking on behalf of the women of Okuoromi, expressed gratitude to the Monarch for restoring peace and reaffirming the authority of the palace.

“The Oba’s pronouncement has healed divisions and strengthened our belief in the traditional system,” she noted. “The entire community stands together once again, guided by the wisdom of our royal father.”
