The Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, has donated a nine-classroom block to Oza Comprehensive High School, Ojah, in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.
According to NAN, Oshiomhole inaugurated the multi-million-naira project on Tuesday.
Speaking during the event, the former Edo governor said the gesture fulfilled a campaign promise he made to the people of Ojah during the 2023 elections.
“As a former governor, Ojah was one of the communities that did not get red roof, and when I came to campaign here in 2023, I promised to build classrooms in this community. Today we are inaugurating the school for the comfort of the students. We are not only inaugurating classrooms but with offices and good toilets for the teachers and students,” Oshiomhole said.
He urged teachers and students to make proper use of the facility, adding that he would provide furniture and a borehole within the school premises in the coming weeks.
In his remarks, the school principal, Mr Joseph Uzuamu, commended Oshiomhole for the donation and pledged that both teachers and students would maintain the facility.
“The three blocks of nine classrooms with office and toilets is to create an enabling environment conducive for effective teaching and learning. Your good past records and present efforts prove that you have great interest in the education of our children,” he said.
Also speaking, the traditional ruler of Ojah, Oba Daniel Lawani, and a student, Abigael Daramola, expressed gratitude to the senator for fulfilling his campaign promise.
“On behalf of the people of Ojah and the students, we want to thank Oshiomhole for remembering the school and people of Ojah community,” they said.
