Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested seven suspected cultists in a hospital located in Uromi, the administrative headquarters of Esan North-East Local Government Area of the State.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Moses Yamu, disclosed this on Thursday in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City.

Yamu said the suspects who are members of Eiye Confraternity were allegedly holding a strategic meeting to launch an attack on the rival Aye Confraternity, following a clash between one alias “I Dey Chop” (Eiye member) and Asuelimen Saviour (Aye member), during which both sustained injuries.

He said the suspects were arrested on November 15, 2025, by the operatives led by the Divisional Police officer while acting on credible intelligence.

He listed items recovered from the suspects to include one battle axe and various cult paraphernalia.

The Command’s image maker added that the said Asuelimen Saviour was later arrested on November 16, 2025, while the investigation is ongoing.

Yamu opined that the success was part of the Command’s sustained onslaught against violent crimes, cult-related activities, kidnapping, and armed robbery across the state.

He assured that the Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensure the safety and security of all residents.
