Hon. EJ Agbonayinma has strongly criticised the recent ambassadorial nominations, describing them as an aberration and a clear imbalance in representation. According to him, all three ambassadorial nominees were drawn from Edo North Senatorial District, a development he says undermines fairness, equity, and the principle of inclusive governance in Edo State.

Agbonayinma noted that Edo State is made up of three senatorial zones—Edo North, Edo Central, and Edo South—and each zone deserves fair consideration in key national appointments. Concentrating all ambassadorial nominations in one senatorial district, he argued, sends a wrong signal and marginalises other parts of the state.

He stressed that ambassadorial appointments are not just political rewards but strategic positions meant to reflect the diversity and collective interests of the people. By overlooking Edo Central and Edo South, Agbonayinma said the federal government risks deepening feelings of exclusion and political imbalance.

The former lawmaker therefore called on relevant authorities to urgently review the nominations and ensure a more equitable spread that reflects Edo State’s senatorial structure. He maintained that balanced representation is essential for unity, fairness, and sustained political stability.
