The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has endorsed a 100-mile endurance cycling ride by Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, describing the initiative as a significant boost to sports development in Nigeria and a strong statement on inclusion.

In a statement by his media aide, Edoko Wilson Edoko, Enabulele praised the young cyclist’s determination, noting that his Guinness World Record attempt as the youngest rider to complete the distance goes beyond sport, serving as a platform to deepen autism awareness campaign efforts nationwide.

The chairman said the cyclist’s passage through Edo State on Tuesday March 24, during his journey from Enugu to Lagos, adds symbolic weight to activities lined up for World Autism Awareness Day on April 2.

He emphasized that Edo’s alignment with the initiative reflects its broader policy thrust on youth empowerment and social inclusion, pointing to the athlete’s maternal ties to the state as an added connection.

“Kanyeyachukwu’s journey represents courage and a call for broader acceptance of persons on the autism spectrum. Edo State stands with this cause and will continue to support advocacy through sports,” Enabulele said.

He also highlighted the cyclist’s global profile as an autistic artist and Guinness World Record holder for the largest art canvas, describing his achievements as proof of the potential that thrives with the right support.

Enabulele reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to promoting youth excellence and creative talent, while wishing the cyclist a safe and successful completion of the ride.

Dignitaries at the event, including Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole; Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Chris Okaeben; and Special Adviser on Health, Dr. Andrew Iyamu, commended the initiative, describing it as a symbol of resilience and possibility for young Nigerians.
